Manga — 1997

Anime — 1999

  • Premiere: Toei Animation’s anime started on October 20, 1999 on Fuji TV, two years after the manga debuted.
  • Episodes: Over 1,100 episodes have aired so far, in 80+ countries.
  • Expansion: The series spawned 15 animated films and about 40 video games.

Netflix adaptation — 2023

  • Launch: Netflix’s live-action One Piece series premiered on August 31, 2023 (8 episodes).
  • Reception: It hit #1 in 86 countries. Critics gave it an 84% Rotten Tomatoes score.
  • Viewership: Fans watched ~140 million hours in the first week. Each episode reportedly cost £14.4M.

Bandai launches TCG — 2023

  • Launch: Bandai announced the One Piece Card Game in 2022 and released it in Japan on July 8, 2022 (global release December 2, 2022).
  • Products: Four starter decks launched (Straw Hat Pirates, Worst Generation, Shichibukai, Animal Kingdom).

Global One Piece TCG events and tournaments — 2023
