Emperors of the New World (OP09) released in Japan on August 31, 2024. This second-anniversary set puts the spotlight on the Four Emperors of the New World: Luffy, Buggy, Blackbeard, and Shanks.
Thematic focus: OP09 celebrates the new era of piracy after Wano, with a strong emphasis on the Yonko and their crews. It also marks the first appearance of the Pirate King himself, Gol D. Roger, as a playable card. The set explores the shifting balance of power in the New World, highlighting both the current emperors and the legacy Yonko.
Notable Cards: Six new leader cards were introduced – Shanks (Red), Monkey D. Luffy (Purple/Black), Nico Robin (Purple/Yellow), Lim (Green/Purple), Marshall D. Teach (Black), and Buggy (Blue). The two Secret Rares in this set are Gol D. Roger (OP09-118) and Monkey D. Luffy (OP09-119).
Chase Cards: Gol D. Roger is the headline addition and one of the most sought-after cards in the game. OP09 is unique in containing five Manga Rares – Roger plus manga versions of each of the Four Emperors. The set also includes ten Special Art cards, among them four wanted-poster parallels for Shanks, Luffy, Blackbeard, and Buggy. These wanted-poster designs have become standout collectibles for fans.
Relevance Today: Together with OP01 and OP05, OP09 is one of the most popular boxes for collectors and long-term investors. The combination of five Manga Rares and ten Special Arts makes it highly desirable. In gameplay, leaders like Shanks (Red), Marshall D. Set Composition: 129+1 card types: 6 Leaders, 45 Commons, 30 Uncommons, 26 Rares, 10 Super Rares, 2 Secret Rares, 10 Special Parallels (an increase, partly due to extra anniversary cards), and 1 DON!! Card.
Pack & Box Details: Japanese packs contain 6 cards each, and a booster box has 24 packs. This standard pack/box format applies to all Japanese OP-series boosters.
