Upcoming Pokémon TCG Sets

The next English Pokémon TCG expansion is Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration, scheduled for 16 September 2026.

The expansion celebrates 30 years of the Pokémon Trading Card Game and follows the Mega Evolution releases that have dominated the 2026 Pokémon TCG schedule.

Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration – 16 September 2026

30th Celebration is a special Pokémon TCG expansion created to mark the game's 30th anniversary.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game originally launched in Japan in 1996, making 2026 its 30th anniversary year. The new expansion brings anniversary-themed cards and products to the English Pokémon TCG.

One of the new card types introduced through 30th Celebration is the Futuristic rare, which uses a new visual style created for the anniversary expansion.

The set is scheduled to become available at participating retailers from 16 September 2026.

The Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution Series

The Mega Evolution Series replaced the Scarlet & Violet Series as the main Pokémon TCG era in late 2025.

The first English Mega Evolution expansion launched in September 2025 and brought Mega Evolution Pokémon ex back to the Pokémon TCG. These Pokémon can have powerful attacks and high HP, but knocking one out can give the opponent three Prize cards.

The Mega Evolution Series currently includes:

• Mega Evolution—Phantasmal Flames
• Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes
• Mega Evolution—Perfect Order
• Mega Evolution—Chaos Rising
• Mega Evolution—Pitch Black

Pokémon TCG Special Sets vs Regular Sets

Not every Pokémon TCG expansion is released in exactly the same way.

Regular expansions are generally sold in traditional booster packs, booster boxes, Elite Trainer Boxes and other sealed products. Examples include Perfect Order and Chaos Rising.

Special expansions can use a different product structure and may not receive traditional booster boxes. Sets such as Prismatic Evolutions and Ascended Heroes have booster packs distributed through products such as Elite Trainer Boxes, Booster Bundles and collection boxes.

Pokémon TCG Standard Rotation

The Pokémon TCG does not rotate entire sets based only on their release date. Instead, Standard legality is primarily determined by the regulation mark printed near the bottom of each card.

Following the 2026 rotation, cards with the G regulation mark are no longer legal in the current Standard format. Standard decks can use cards carrying H, I and J regulation marks, along with newer regulation marks as they are introduced.

This means cards from the same expansion can sometimes have different competitive relevance over time, and an older card can become legal again if it receives a legal reprint.
